Flashback has been providing Memphis with vintage clothing and collectible merchandise since 1985. From 1920’s art deco to 1950’s modern, Flower Power in the 60’s to funky 70’s disco, Flashback has seen it all.
Millett Vance, shop owner, has a keen eye for vintage — she’s been the boss for 25 years. Her fine arts background helped fine tune her first two stores: Lou’s Antique Clothing and Collect-A-Rama in Midtown Memphis. After four years of success in vintage clothing and fifties collectables, Millett collaborated with an art deco dealer to open Flashback as a true vintage department store at its current location.
In 1991, Millett acquired exclusive ownership of Flashback. With the help of mechanical & electronics whiz kid, Gene Rossetti, they’ve made Flashback THE place for vintage — Numero Uno.
Herman Miller for the Home selected Flashback as an original store for its reissued Eames, Nelson, and Noguchi lines from 1994 to 2002. Also in 1994 new retro dinette furniture from Vitro was added. Over time, other new lines such as Vitra and Modernica were brought in to supplement the vintage collection. Steady Clothing and Stop Staring Clothing were added to supplement the vintage fashion. The result is a great shopping experience in Memphis.
